Most people are unaware of the importance of correct wheel alignment but it’s something that can be seriously dangerous when driving. It also happens to be a relatively easy fix and one that should be done as soon as you start to notice the signs. Unfortunately, a lot of people aren’t aware of what they should be looking out for. Here are some of the warning signs your car might need a wheel alignment.
1. Your steering wheel is off center
Say you’re driving down a completely straight road, your steering wheel should also be pretty much straight. While you have to allow for a little bit of discrepancies in the straightness, it general it should be more than a few degrees off center. If it is, it’s time to get it checked out.
2. Odd tire wear
An expert can tell a lot about a car just from the wear and tear of the tires. If there are certain spots that show a decent amount more damage than others it could be a sign that your wheels aren’t completely centered and need to be re aligned.
3. Your car pulls in one direction
If you’re finding it difficult to keep your car straight without some sort of effort involved, it’s probably down to the wheels and tires. You shouldn’t need to try very hard at all to keep the car going in one direction without it pulling in another. It’s also quite dangerous so it’s best to get it fixed before it becomes a safety concern.
4. The car feels loose
While you might not never have noticed your car driving loosely, that might be because you’ve never realized it was an issue especially if you purchased the car needing a wheel alignment. This will be really noticeable whilst driving around corners.
5. The wheel isn’t returning to center
Of course you need to steer the car, and the steering wheel won’t just magically come back to where it’s meant to be but it should attempt to move itself back to center and if it doesn’t, it could be a sign you need a wheel alignment.
